Antique Mechanical Valentine-1915

This is a vibrantly colored die-cut antique mechanical valentine card showing a young lady’s face ensconced in a gilted heart, with a daisy through her hair and unique floral earrings. The bottom reads, “Be My Valentine.” A tab at the bottom allows the young lady’s facial expression to change from sour to sweet, revealing the message, “When I look at you / I want to see / You look this way / right back at me.” The bottom of the tab contains a space for a message, which reads “Margaret Bradford.”

This highly collectible and unique valentine is printed on heavy card stock and is in near-perfect condition, with no creasing or tears. The back contains the words, “To Mary Jean Miller,” in pencil.

Believed to be circa 1915
