This is a vibrantly colored die-cut antique mechanical valentine card showing a young girl and boy dressed as colorful clowns, dancing with each other over a florally wreathed heart that reads, “Loving Thoughts.” The couple’s figures are hinged at the girl’s hip, allowing them to swing-dance playfully. There is also a fold-in tab to allow the card to stand.

This highly collectible valentine is printed on heavy card stock, contains an original brass brad, and is in near-perfect condition, with only a slight crease along the stand-up tab. The front indicates it was printed in Germany, and the back contains the words, “To Mary Jean Miller, From Margaret,” in pencil.
