“Fisherman”

by Robert W. MacIsaac (1925-2000)

Figure, Expressionism, Impressionism, Acrylic on wood panel

This is a magnificent acrylic painting by incredibly astounding artist Robert W. MacIsaac entitled “Fisherman.” This lovely painting portrays a man with the fish he caught that day. The artist’s tremendous skill is evident in the brush strokes as he makes confident lines and marks of glorious color. His phenomenal use of atmospheric perspective draws the viewer through the picture with comfort. The seagulls wonderfully recede into the distance as they get further away from the fisherman scene. The exceptionally placed barrel behind the man breaks up the picture comfortably, adding a marvelous dimensionality to the artwork.

The exquisite and expensive frame is individually crafted and designed by Le Chateau’s professional in-house artist. The painting is expertly matched with a silver ripple frame that has a black wash to further enhance the colors in the piece. The gorgeous tones of the frame marvelously complement the natural colors of the artwork. This delightful painting and expertly crafted frame measure 17” x 25” and would make an impressive addition to any collection at only $1,200.

Robert MacIsaac was born and raised in Detroit, MI. In October of 1925, he came into this world, and from an early age exhibited outstanding artistic talent. MacIsaac served overseas in the American Army in World War II, in both the Philippines and New Guinea. He returned to Michigan after his service had ended, where he gained widespread recognition for his spectacular landscapes and his unique, artistic realism in maritime paintings. MacIsaac was also a renowned graphic designer, with his work including the Seal of the City of Novi. Later in life, he moved to North Carolina and then to Clearwater, FL, where he continued to develop his extraordinary talent producing unrivaled oils and watercolors in his favorite genre of landscape and maritime seascapes. MacIsaac died in Clearwater, FL, in December of 2000, and is celebrated for his outstanding artistic achievements. Unfortunately, his lifetime output of work only reached about 600 pieces, which includes paintings, drawings, etc. When compared to other artists, this is considered to be on the low end of the scale; however, any of his pieces are bound to increase in value because of this limited output.
