A WPA muralist, illustrator and modernist painter especially known for paintings with Jewish themes and narrative American scene works, Alexander Katz had a career primarily in Chicago. He also did abstract compositions in black and white and interior theatre decoration.
He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and in the 1920s, had an art gallery called the Little Gallery, which featured progressive art. Among his positions in Chicago was serving on the art staff of the "Chicagoan Magazine" and creating posters for the Chicago Civic Opera. He also created posters for the Century of Progress exhibitions, 1933 to 1934. Katz received much acclaim for his murals at the Century of Progress World's Fair and for other WPA projects during the 1930s. His murals are at the Butler Institute of American Art; the Evansville, Indiana Museum' Madison Illinois Post Office and the Oak Park Illinois Jewish Temple.

This poster is in excellent condition and displays a beautifully rendered and brightly colored picture by Katz entitled, “The Yellow Shirt.” This unique poster is framed in a bright red metal frame that reflects the reds of the girl’s collar and cuffs. The entire size of this piece is 22.25” x 17.25.”

If shipment is undeliverable for any reason, or buyer refuses shipment, buyer will be responsible for shipping fees, return shipping fees, duties, taxes, and any costs incurred in returning. Customs delays: We cannot control the speed of international shipping. If your country is experiencing any postal strikes, customs delays, et cetera, we are unable to increase the shipping time. Lost or Damaged Items:	We insure all of our items. If you receive a damaged shipment, please contact us and your local post office immediately to file a claim.

No Payment Received:	eBay will automatically open an unpaid item case. We work with our buyers to prevent disputes and settle cases civilly. Please contact us. Payment is expected within 7 business days of purchase.
Returns:	All returns are accepted within 7 business days of purchase. After 7 business days, the buyer is responsible for a $20 or 10% restocking fee, whichever is greater, and all other pertinent return costs.
