“Doll and Mouse” is a tiny little needlepoint gem that depicts a young doll like girl sitting on the ground. It seems as if she might have fallen because she has roller-skates on and a mouse is catching a tear from her eye. The characteristics of the girl are very similar to that of a Precious Moments ® doll. Her eyes are over sized and she has a button nose that is very pink from crying. The girl’s head is decorated with a large green and pink bow on the top and two smaller ones near each ear. Her overhauls are the small colors which help the eye move around the entire picture.

Needlepoint has been around since clothing. It is an artistic hobby that consists of embroidery upon canvas, usually with uniform spacing of stitches in a pattern. The needle works out the design on paper or parchment and eventually becomes an intricate picture. This particular needlepoint has more dense thread throughout the parameters of the little girl to make her the most important part of the work.

The needlepoint is a purely decorative, 6.5” x 8.5,” work of art. It is framed in a light wood and could be a great accent to a young girl’s room. The condition of the needlepoint is excellent and the frame is exceptional and quiet. It doesn’t take any attention away from the artwork that it encases.
